Welcome to 3RDSPACE (formerly, Young Arts Patrons). Founded in 2014, we have a mission to move the city’s artists forward and build the momentum of the community to support and sustain the creative class!
So what is a 3RDSPACE? A third space is a socio-cultural term that designates a communal space, as distinct from the home (first space) or work (second space). Your 3RDSPACE is thus the creative fine arts ecosystem where any individual can experience a transformative sense of self, identity, and relationship to others. We are dedicated to serving the cultural producers in and across the disciplines of Design, Dance, Film, Media, Music, Theater & Performance, Traditional Arts, Visual Art, and Writing as they create ambitious and innovative work that reflects, engages, and impacts the public.
Together, we are going to strengthen the 3RDSPACE infrastructure in Memphis by building programs that fill in resource and opportunity gaps and connects the arts and culture community.

Truthfully, our goals are ever growing, because our arts community is always expanding, pushing boundaries, and trying daring new things. We plan to champion them. Our daily goal is to see our city thrive.

Expand Access to Capital for Creatives & Creative Entrepreneurs
3RDSPACE works to sustain and promote artists in the Greater Memphis area. We invest in the essential creative process that drives their art forward and touches all of us, in every corner of our community. We believe the arts are the backbone to economic and social vitality.
We believe in supporting artists who take risks. Our programs are designed to fill gaps in the arts capital infrastructure in multiple ways: project production and distribution support, marketplace development, and unrestricted cash grants
Working with existing capital sources such as local and national foundations, community development institutions, banks, patrons, and philanthropists over the next 10 years, 3RDSPACE will create an integrated capital pipeline for creatives and creative entrepreneurs to finance new creative work.

Build Audience Participation & Cultural Transformation
The development of a stronger arts audience through engagement, education, and connection will promote a sustainable ecosystem for artists. In partnership with major institutions, start-up organizations, and innovative ideas, 3RDSPACE will cultivate new audiences for culture and bring them into a place of exchange that enhances the civic value of the arts.
Most importantly, 3RDSPACE will give the citizens of Memphis pride of place and a renewed dedication to building a healthy and sustainable community.
